Hi Vicky

I've just found a wonderful (free) site where you can start creating your family tree online. If we all have a go at this, we might start finding connections. It's at http://www.geni.com

Have fun

hi Vicky, So far I have traced my family back to Mary Pitchford, a mexed race slave who married John Bragg. They lived on Bragg Plantation in Jetersville Virginia. Dr. John Bragg was a red haired Irish Vet who lived on Bragg plantation which was burned down during the war. There are a lot of holes that I am trying to fill in. We have kin in most of the states around Virginia. Le.

My Pitchfords came from Henrico County, Virginia. The first one that I have found is Samuel Pitchford. I am a descendant of his son Daniel Pitchford. This line later married into the Cherokee Indians and moved west. We have been in Missouri since 1855.

Another site I found stated that a Samuel Pitchford was the 1st known Pitchford to come to the states and that he started the Pitchford line that is here today. Maybe your Sam is a grandson, or cousin. Le

Samuel Pitchford born 1705 Prince George , Virginia, British Colony. It is supposed he is the
son of Joseph and Elizabeth Pitchford who were given a land grant as French Huegonauts (sp?) around 1701, in Virginia.

My Grandfather, John Pitchford, and his brother Samuel Pitchford came to Canada in 1903. I know that John married Margaret Christina Einarson from Milton, South Dakota, US but I do not know where they got married. I can trace back my line of Pitchfords to 1842... I still have a lot of work to do and that work would be impossible without my cousin from England, Jo Pitchford.

We can now trace this line back to Lilleshall , Shropshire England . John and Samuel's Great Grandfather was born there in 1771.

Does anyone else have John and Ann in their tree?

Hello Jo

Who was John and Samuels Grandfather?

Are you having the same trouble as the rest of us with John P and Margaret ( Rhodes)?

I have a maternal and a paternal Pitchford line. My Paternal line goes back to 1500. Can I help. I have a lot of paperwork i can sift through, and being a Shropshire lass have a lot of knowledge about the area and its peoples. At present |i live in Corfu. But if on my visits to the UK, I can help, will try. Marie Fellows nee Pitchford.

Samuel & John ( Jack) had brother Enoch and sisters Lucy, Jane and Mary Ann who remained in England.

Their grandparents were William Pitchford and Sarah Banks .

Family moved from Wolverhampton to Bolton area in 1870's.

Hello Vicky,
I, too, am descended from Thomas D., by way of Silas Calvin P., Boyd Lawrence P. Sr. and Boyd Lawrence P. Jr. I've seen a lot of inquiries about this same issue. The census records of Chesterfield County, Va. may hold that answer, but don't list the names of the children before 1840. There is an Elizabeth Pitchford, head of household, there in 1830 with a son 'between 5-10'. One story has it that his father died shortly before he (Thomas D) was born. His father's name was Daniel. But the confirming paperwork is not very clear and I've tried tracing him through his wife, Nancy Simmons and her family. Maybe finding how he married a girl from Surry County NC, whose family was possibly Quakers would help?? I use Legacy 6.0 and if think any of my notes will help they are available to you at your request. I've also have my 37 marker Y-DNA documented if we have any male cousins that have had theirs tested. Looking for 3rd cousin?
Good Hunting,
Bill (William Boyd P)

I married into the Pitchford family, which can be traced back to Enfield, NC to a Great-grandfather, H. Pitchford.
